the media plays an important part in the lives of many people in south African because most of our perceptions are based on what we hear, read and watch and on what the world is really like even framing the ones who are in the public eye what they lives are really like or what they believe in so that we can base our lives and opinions on that do or say.
on Sunday the 15th of April an article was published that made social networks to go wild. the article was about the muilt rand recording artist Zahara who is sign under TS records.
accusations were made that the record label was exploiting her and the main culprits are tk nciza and sbu leope that they were using her talent for personal gain while the the journalist named they source as nomade and mbangeda as the sayed that their sister Zahara doesn't have control over her money and is forced to live with nciza and is treated like a servant. and sometimes asks a loan from her mother just to buy airtime and she way quick to resposed to this rumours"papers may write what ever they like, but i know that i have been great kid in my family and ts record too has been good to me " and later went on to a radio interview at umhlobo wenene fm breakfast show on Tuesday.as she claims that she is not being misused and tk nciza is treating her very well and concluded by saying that she is taking her time about on buying her things and will buy when she is good and ready.
the question stand if really that our local record labels like TS records are exploiting our local artist or that our own South African media is framing our local in a bad light because the South African music awards are only a few weeks away. maybe giving her bad publicity so that she doesn't get any vote for the public for song of the year. and please before you can judge or foam your perception about TS records, zahara and the south African media ask yourself this question is south African record labels exploiting our local artist or is that our musician not educated enough to turn music to a business's or is it that our South African media is framing this agenda for us and we just believe everything they report to us for more reading click here.
I heard and read about Zahara being treated like a slave in the Nciza household, and my question did not lie so much on the TS Records label but on the education in our country because for Zahara to be treated like this , it is because she is not knowledgeable about the music indusrty and did not even sign a contract , therfore she does not exactly know how to deal with this issue, TS Records is has certainly created a bad image for themselves by exploiting Zahara in this way.
ReplyDelete@thee workplace i totally agree with you education is very important especially in the music industry and some people still think it not important to have the basic edcation about the music industry as long as you have talentand i guess it will not be nice when you ahve all the talent nut very much broke
DeleteWhat i believe, in this industry is about money; fame; good partnership. Zahara was new in the industry and is this, She was happy that her talent is being appreciated she never thought about what will happen later, is really wise to have someone who is familia with the business to assist you.
ReplyDeleteTS records are just to good at expoiting peoplequoting from a tweet at social network twitter
DeleteTS Records is created a bad image for themselves by exploiting Zahara. how can you paint your sofa with paint just because you do not want you kid to sit on it? dont you know that you are going to have to seat on that sofa?see now is not all about zahara being exposed but even the TS Records
ReplyDeleteand zahara dose not even notice that she is been expoited and she wants to do is to sing
DeleteIf they are treating her like a servant then why is she protecting them because she denied all those accusations. But what surprises me though is the fact that she says she can afford a car and a house, if that is so then why would she settle for less? There's more to this.
ReplyDeletethe reason for this is because ts records are the ones that support her talents that is why she can not see any wrong in the them
DeleteThis is too hard to believe, I'm still trying to convince myself that it is just a matter of the media being sensational - but you never know I guess. All I can say is that all emerging musicians out there should learn a lesson and get to know the music industry in detail before they jump into it - it is surely a dangerous field, every man for himself!
ReplyDeletethat is why is so important that music artist be educated so that they can handle thier money better
DeleteThe music industry is all about hard cash and if you don't have it then you won't fit in with the right crowds. Now this is a sad story to hear that Zahara doesn't have money to buy airtime? Now that is hard to swallow. Her CD went platinum in just a week and today she can't afford to buy herself airtime? What happened to all that money? Was she cheated???
ReplyDeletethat is the question on everybody mind because she dosenot even have a bank account
DeleteNow that's bad.
DeleteThe sisters need to mind their own business and let Zahara handle her life on her own. They are probably bitter because maybe Zahara refuses to give them money. This is also the reson why musicians need to be taught the basics about music and business and financial management. Zahara is still new in the inustry and so as time goes on she will learn on how to manage her money on her own without her record label interfering. many musicians go crazy when they see their bank account filled with seven zeros next to a 7, they splash out on everything and anything fancy forgetting that it wont last for the future. Let Zahara take her own time in spening her money and if she is happy with the way she is being treate by TS rECORDS, THAN WHO ARE WE TO JUGDE?
ReplyDeletei agree with you fiancial literacy is important and in this context (zahara) needs it very quickly and i just think the sisters are just looking out for thier little sister just like you would do the same
Deleteit is a real shame and heart breaking that a simple rural lady is exploited by those close to her.we understand that she is greatful to those people who gave her a chance in life but looking back in history, record company owners are famous for not paying the desired remunerations to their tresured artists.so as time goes on we will find out the truth as it exposes itself
ReplyDeleteand hopefully zahara will face the truth soon and move on
DeleteI didn't read the paper on Sunday but I did listen to Kaya fm on Monday and what Zahara said there, made a lot of sense to me. She said that she has full control of her money and she is comfortible living with Ts and Nhlanha. I mean guys let's think about it, she is from the rural parts of South Africa and this is big for her, there are a lot of other things she is doing and when the time is right she will get her own space, that is what she said and I think we should let her be.We like to think and decide for people how to live and I admire Zahara for being true to who she is. "I don't want a big house and a fancy car to prove a point, I like the way my life is going and when the time is right, I will get my own things" she said.
ReplyDeletethink serious now that comment made by zahara clearly shows that it comes from a pr point of view
DeleteAnd as for Ts records, well it is a big label and it has most of the best musicians and an incident of this nature has never occured there before, I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt on this one.
ReplyDeletei think i should correct you when i say brown dash and brick and prokid complained about been expoited by TS records that is why they left the record label
DeleteMedia is sometimes exaggerating i dont think that Zahara said all those things they just framing her because they jelous of her.I wanda why though?
ReplyDeletethe media is really good in making us belive things easily because when thing they report to us we just taking things as they are without questioning them
DeleteThe media is always on peoples businesses. People believe what ever they hear from the media hence a lot of peoples lives can be destroyed for good. Big ups to Zahara for standing up for herself and not giving the media what it wants.
ReplyDeletebut how sure are that that statement made by zahara was not but a pr point of view and not from her own opions
Deletethe media always write about things that they get form people before consulting the victims at all times,i have to agree with Ms nqwaba, media is out to get people and destroying people's brand
ReplyDeletebut the mother was asked and she didnot response to the media so they write what they like
DeleteI donot think that the recording lables are exploiting our musicans. The problem might be that our musicantions are lacking education for them to be able to stand up for themselves.
ReplyDeletewhile record labels are not helping in providing the little education
DeleteThere has been alot of news concerning TS Records not only when it comes to Zahara but when it comes to bookings and all. They have a rude events manager and i wouldnt be suprised if this is more than just a rumor.
ReplyDeleteTS records should use communication as thier management function
Deletemedia can be very powerful at times and as you say it can make you and it can break you, i think this was just a publicity stunt for Zahara sibce the metros are just around the corner.....the is no bad publicity, this could just a plan to create hype around Zahara so that people can feel sorry for her then vote for her*just a thought*
ReplyDeletei dont think they really want bad publicity at this stage
Deletethe media can bury you alive ,it is very powerful and we believe everthing we read.
ReplyDeletethe media can bring a country down what more a muso they will crash you
Deletewow... really. The media is powerful hey like it can write anything, and we would believe it...Zahara is no doubt a great singer but this rumors are so not like her... i just hope this is a lie, it will be sad if such good talent go to waist... i bet some young people look up to Zahara so to read such is not on... and TS record are professional people i do not believe they will do that to her
ReplyDeletebut at the end of the day we depend on the media to keep us imformed
Deletebut at the end of the day we depend on the media to keeps us informed
DeleteMedia is one of the most influencial plartfoms but yet can really misslead people about certain issues and with this issue they are totaly gunning for TS records.
ReplyDeleteand this isreally giving them bad publicity
DeleteTS Records signed a contract with Zahara not the family so they must butt out and let Zahara handle this. She is not underage.
ReplyDeletei hear what you are saying but if it was my sister i would do the same if not worse
Deletemy Question is how did Zahara end up in the contract that will treat her like this she should have taken the contract to lawyers and its important for musician to be educated to avoid contracts like this
ReplyDeletei guess she did not about the legal formalities all she wanted to do was to sing
DeleteSo what even if ZahARA aked her mother to buy her airime. That does not mean that she cannot afford, its not like she was asking for donations in the streets corners its her mother for goodness sake
ReplyDeletebut why dose a multirand recording artist ask for airtime for her mother
DeleteThis is not the first time something like this was said about TS records. If this is not true,I want to know why Bricks and Ntando left the recording company. I dont want to take any sides here but I smell a rat.
ReplyDeletei awith you ts records is really famous for expoiting
DeleteIts really disgusting that other people work hard to show off their talent then comes music gurus and exploit the talent, I must say that I agree with the allegations facing TS records, what does Zahara have and I am sure that she is broke while TK Nciza and DJ Sbu's so called recording label is growing its revenue
ReplyDeletei might like to disagree with you MR Ngcongo. At the first point we should remember that if it was not by ts records then there was no Zahara so how can we just agree on allegations facing ts records.I think that we just have to believe what Zahara is telling the media or am i wrong?
Deletebut that is what the media and the sisters sayed so i guess that is why people are likly to belive the story
DeleteWe as the publics i think that we should believe what Zahara is saying or have said about Ts records during her interview. We know how defficult people can be and maybe they are just making all this alligations because they after something that Zahara has with this recording company.Zahara is still growing so at some point she has to follow what her leaders tell her.
ReplyDeletebut what reloy shocking is that she dosenot have abank account
DeleteWhat ever is going on at that music stable is unknown... TS Records has been in the lime light fro some many issues, or unfairness, etc, etc... Money makes the world evil I tell you
ReplyDeleteand record labels make is even worse
DeleteI think that our musicians lack the skills to control their money because some musicians and celebrities you find that when they die they have nothing we as the citizens of SA must donate... Maybe in a way TS record is helping Zahara
ReplyDeletei donnot think so she shoul be having her own bank account if they were really helping her
DeleteIts a shame to see such a talented lady so helpless, its like she is told what to say and make to believe . People feel sorry for her , but is she as innocent as made out to be , this could be a publicity stunt .
ReplyDeletei donnot think that ts records could afford to put a stunt like with the sama awrds around the corner
Deletemedia does play an important role in our society bit they sometimes frame in issue to their advantage
